The Labour Party Conference in Brighton

Sabri Ben Ameur, Chair of Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum
was part of a panel who were interviewed live on
Thursday 30th September 2004 at 11:30am on The Daily
Politics Labour Conference Special on BBC Two, by
Edwina Thomas about the current occupation in Iraq and
the Labour Party's Policy in Iraq.

Sabri made it clear that the occupation in Iraq must
end immediately and the puppet government currently in
place needs to be replaced by leaders appointed by the
Iraqi people. The panel made it clear that they are
aware that many people think it would be a disaster if
occupying troops pull out of Iraq. But the current
situation shows that it is already a disaster in Iraq
and the problem is escalating. Sabri mentioned how
more Iraqis are being killed by American bombs and in
many cases illegally tortured and murdered by occupying
troops.

On Wednesday demonstrators marched passed the
conference hall demonstrating against the occupation,
one demonstrated interviewed said that "We are seeing
more Iraqis fighting against the so called liberators,
this is still an illegal war fought on lies fed through
the media by Bush and Blair, Blair must accept
responsibility that he lied to the nation."
