Brighton disowns Blair's war

Peace protesters marched in Brighton yesterday to protest against Blair
and Bush's war in Iraq, while the Labour party conference continued.

(From Sussex Action for Peace):
"It is estimated that at least 15,000 Iraqi men, women and children
have been killed in the war/occupation. Lack of water and power have
killed thousands more. The 'leaders' of Iraq were handpicked by the US.
Is it any wonder the Iraqi people are not happy?"

Arabic Teachers Needed!

BHMF is involved in setting up a weekend school for Muslim children, for
both boys and girls that will inshallah replace the boys club. We will
have several classes for different age groups, and we are currently
looking for people fluent in Arabic who also speak English who would
like to teach children. We are also looking for people who are
knowledgeable about Islam to teach the children. Pay is negotiable.

If you would like to be involved, or if you can recommend someone
suitable then please telephone Sabri on 07867 773723 or contact
BHMF.

We are also on the lookout for a suitable venue for the school, ideally
we would like to be able to make use of a secondary school, preferably
in a central location.

BHMF needs your help!

Since its launch in July BHMF is becoming recognised as the leading Muslim organisation in Brighton. Because of this, our work is rapidly expanding, and we need volunteers to help in many areas.

We are hoping to expand the youth club greatly, concentrating more on Arabic and Islamic studies, and we will need volunteers for supervision and organisation, as well as qualified Arabic and Islamic studies teachers.

There are many Muslim inmates in Lewes prison who are in great need of contact with Muslims. They are in need of our support, care and attention, and BHMF is inshallah going to organise visits to the prison. If anyone could spare one or two hours a week to visit them they would appreciate it greatly. We are also currently in the process of organising for an Imam for the Friday prayers at the prison.

In addition, we are currently trying to organise for visits to the local hospital, where many Muslims are ill and without friends or family to visit them. As Muslims it is our duty to do so, and inshallah the rewards with Allah SWT will be great.

If you can spare any time, or help in any way whatsoever, we want to hear from you. To volunteer, or for more information, please contact BHMF by email or telephone 01273 480166.
