BHMF Members Meet on Hajj

The Brighton & Hove Muslim Forum (BHMF) will be meeting at Hajj this year again (Alhumdulillah).

The meeting will take place in Saudia Arabia with Executive Member Tariq Jung, Sabri Ben Ameur and Nabil Seaton and other members of the Muslim community from Brighton and Hove but also a number from the Sussex area.

Last year the meeting was with Asmat Roe,Kadeer Arif (Policy Adviser), Daoud Clarke (BHMF Secretary) and Sabri
Ben Ameur (previous BHMF chairman).

Again this year the BHMF have received another invitation from the World Muslim League to attend its conference in Mecca.
This is a great honour for the BHMF to represent our city of Brighton and Hove in the holy city of Mecca.

The BHMF have also been asked to make a audio diary by the BBC during their visit to the Hajj. This is the second time the BHMF have covered an important event for Brighton and Hove as part of its work for the community. The first being the Asian Earthquake of 8th October 2005.

Armistice Sunday

THE INQUISITIVE MIND OF A CHILD.

Why are they selling poppies mummy?
Selling poppies in town today
The poppies, child are flowers of love
For the men who marched away
But why have they chosen a poppy mummy?
Why not a beautiful rose?
Because, my child, men fought and died
In fields where poppies grow
But why are poppies so red mummy?
Why are poppies so red?
Red is the colour of blood, my child
The blood our soldiers shed
The heart of the poppy is black, mummy
Why does it have to be black?
Black my child, is the symbol of grief
For the men who never came back
But, why mummy are you crying so?
Your tears are giving you pain.
My tears are my fears for you my child
For the world is - FORGETTING AGAIN.
